International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme, IB, is a two-year pre-university course, designed to facilitate the mobility of students and to promote international understanding. In Sweden the IB Diploma Programme consists of three years of studies, the first year is preparatory. The International Baccalaureate (IB) program was designed in Switzerland in the 1960s. The program was meant to be a rigorous, internationally recognized diploma for entry into universities that students all around the world could earn.
